  • Summer Interviewer, College Admissions Office (Summer 1999)
    The College interviews prospective applicants, should they wish to be interviewed, the summer between their junior and senior years of high school. In order to not tie up the Admission Staff, the College hires rising seniors to evaluate these prospective applicants.

    BSA is the university's student run business. Founded in 1969, it provides services and products for students. During my tenure, BSA employed about 70 students, 20 in a managerial capacity. The annual budget for BSA is about $300,000; with gross assets totaling over $500,000.

    President and Chief Executive Officer
    Served as BSA's senior executive for over a year. Directed and wrote the buyout of @EDU Technologies, Inc., a student venture originated by Brown students, totaling over $30,000 and oversaw its incorporation into the company. Responsible for keeping good relations between BSA and other University departments. Oversaw renovation and construction plans for potential move (University pulled the project). Ended fiscal year over $10,000 better than previous year.

    Exec. Vice President and Chief Operating Officer
    Responsible to the President for BSA Publications ($50,000 division that publishes the yearbook, the Brown University directory, and Around and About Providence, the commercial guidebook to Providence) and BSA Retail (two store locations, totaling $200,000 in gross sales). During this year, sales exceeded projections by over $10,000. Responsible for long term planning (leading to the eventual close of one of our retail locations for cost savings purposes). Co-founder and COO or Brown BAG Advertising (on campus promotional advertising agency) and BSA Web Publishing.

    Vice President, Sales and Marketing
    Oversaw $100,000 purchase of new equipment for BSA's rentals division. Responsible for summer and back-to-school sales periods. Instituted new products and selections (inc. futon sales and new retail store on Thayer Street). During my tenure as VP/Sales, Summer sales exceeded plan by 600% and BTS by 235%.

      The Beckett Foundation is a not-for-profit foundation designed to raise funds for the Brown/RISD Catholic Community. Two students sit on the Board along with around twenty alumni.

      ACUP is the University’s Corporation-Committee designated with the responsibility of deciding the budget for the $350 million institution. Four undergraduates sit on this committee along with six faculty and six staff members, chaired by the Provost.
